Dear comrades,
I would like to thank every one of you who took part in this year’s Public Service Day mobilisations.
2026’s Public Service Day was a remarkable success.
Thousands of public service workers took part in workplace actions, demonstrations, conferences and public events across Europe. Our „Austerity Sucks” and „Public Service Emergency” messages were covered in the press. From hospitals and care homes to town halls, energy plants, fire stations, prisons and public administrations, together we made the Public Services Emergency impossible to ignore.
More than 60 affiliates in 33 countries joined the mobilisation – and the number is still growing as we get more pictures and reports in. It’s a milestone in our collective action capacity. It’s proof that the Public Services Emergency is not an isolated problem affecting one country or one sector, but a Europe-wide problem affecting all public services all workers.

The Public Services Emergency mobilisation was a successful start to our multiannual action plan. Public service trade unions have the power to change. We will build on this momentum.
I look forward to discussing the outcomes of this year’s mobilisation and the next steps of our campaign with you at the Executive Committee meeting in November.
